Last Night written and directed by Conor Morrissey and produced by Jackie Larkin of Newgrange Pictures will represent Ireland at the Manhattan Short Film Festival (14th –24th Sept). The festival received nearly 500 entries from 39 countries, spanning across two continents and Last Night was one of 12 finalists to be chosen. 'Last Night' is a psychological thriller that takes place over one long night. A marriage is falling apart but as the night progresses husband and wife discover a much more dreadful truth. Last Night features Orla Brady and Liam Cunningham (The Wind That Shakes The Barley) and was photographed by Declan Emerson. It had its Irish premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh as part of the Irish Film Boards ‘Short Cuts’ initiative. Manhattan has the largest public vote for short films and is one of the most important festivals for short films in terms of getting the film to a large international audience. The 2005 festival had an attendance of over 8000 and this year will be even bigger with more venues spanning even more countries. CONOR MORRISSEY said earlier “I am delighted the film has been selected and look forward to flying the flag in Manhattan. The festival is a great showcase as the films are seen by audiences right across the US, Canada and Europe”.
