Murphy & Moriarty

Rachael Moriarty and Peter Murphy have been writing and directing together since 1991. They were among the eight television writers selected for the World Productions/Screen Training Ireland programme for advancing professional Irish writers for television. They have written and directed for both television and film.

The Family Tree - (Newgrange Pictures 2005)
Produced as part of the Irish Film Board's Short Cuts scheme. A comic piece, The Family Tree shows two people telling very different versions of the same story, and stars Eamonn Owens. The film was only very recently completed, and is expected to premiere at the 2005 Cork Film Festival.

Waterloo Dentures - (Buckshee Films 2003)
Produced as part of The Irish Film Boards Short Shorts Scheme.
Described by The Sunday Times as "a comic masterpiece", the film has screened at the following international film festivals: Florida Film Festival, LA International Film Festival, Rushes Soho Shorts (shortlisted for Polaroid Newcomer Award), Cork, Galway, Foyle & Dublin Film Festivals. Winner of the Best Irish Short Film Award at the Kerry Film Festival, and chosen for screening at the "HD Fest", which screens HD productions from around the world. The film was released in cinemas across Ireland in July 2004 with the feature film "Cowboys and Angels".

Winner of RTE/Film Base Short Films Award 1997.
SWAG - (Buckshee Films, 1996)
Shortlisted for the RTE/Film Base Short Film Awards 1996. The story of a simple bank raid gone horrendously wrong, starring Patrick McDonnell. First screened at Galway Film Fleadh 1997, screened by RTE 1998.

Die-Cycle - (Buckshee Films, 1993)
A melodramatic splatter-spoof, shot on location in the Curragh. The film has been shown at festivals throughout Europe, winning the "Mammoth Laugh" Comedy Award at Primal Screen (Waterford) 1995.
Television
The Winter Palace - (Coco Television, 2001)

Comedy Drama series currently in development, following the fortunes and misfortunes of a group of friends who win a dilapidated nightclub in rural Ireland. Awarded development funding by the Celtic Development Fund.

The Cassidys - (Graph Films, 2000)

Episode 4 of the first series of a contemporary sitcom about three engagingly dysfunctional siblings.
Broadcast autumn 2001.

Sexycars & Money - (Buckshee Films, 2000)
Co-wrote, produced and directed.
Comedy sketch show pilot produced for RTE.

Taxi - (Stopwatch TV, 1999)

The Candidate - (Stopwatch TV, 1997)
Wrote and directed.
An eight part series of comedy drama inserts for @ last tv, as part of R.T.E's schedule for Autumn 1997. The series followed the fictional career of Moley Gunne, would-be youth candidate, in his bid for a seat in Dail Eireann.
